Custom content and custom fields for Shopify

ShopPress gives Shopify the custom content tools WordPress users know from ACF Pro and custom post types. It uses Shopify's own metaobjects and metafields, so your content stays in your store, works in every theme and keeps working even if you uninstall ShopPress.

Content types (custom post types)

A content type is a kind of content with its own fields, such as recipes, team members, store locations, FAQs, size guides or lookbooks.

  1. Open Content (switch the Content module on under Modules if you don't see it).
  2. Click New content type, name it and add fields.
  3. Add entries with the entry form. Entries can be drafts or active.
  4. Show them on your store with the builder's Content loop and Entry field widgets, or in any theme through Shopify's metaobject pages and dynamic sources.

Field types

36 field types:

GroupFields
BasicText, text area, rich text (WYSIWYG), whole number, decimal number, range, email, URL, link (text + URL), true / false, date, date and time, colour, rating, JSON
ChoiceSelect, checkboxes, radio buttons
MediaImage, file, gallery
RelationsProduct, products, collection, collections, page, product variant, entry of a content type, entries of a content type
MeasurementsMoney, weight, dimension, volume
LayoutRepeater, group, flexible content

Repeater, group and flexible content (several layouts to choose from per row) work like in ACF Pro: ShopPress creates the helper types behind the scenes.

Field groups (custom fields on products and more)

Under Field groups add fields to products, variants, collections, customers, orders, pages, blogs, blog posts, locations or the store itself (an options page). The fields appear in the Shopify admin on every item of that type, and you can edit product values in bulk in ShopPress.

Form features

  • Conditional logic: show a field only when another field has a certain value.
  • Tabs and accordions to organise long forms.
  • Required fields, defaults, help text, minimum and maximum values.
  • Pickers for products, collections and files from your Shopify store.

Import and export

Export your content types and field groups as JSON and import them on another store, for example to move a set-up from a development store to the live one.

With your AI

Your AI assistant can create content types, add fields and fill in entries through MCP (see Connect your AI). It can't delete your content: deleting stays in your hands.

Differences from WordPress

Shopify shows a field group on every item of the chosen type, so there are no per-product location rules. Use conditional logic or separate content types instead.
